What to Expect
We value seeing children when it is needed. We take pride scheduling you the day you call but recommend calling first thing in the morning to ensure you get an appointment. If you are unsure if it is an office versus emergency room visit, we recommend you contact one of our providers for guidance, as we’d love to save you from an ER trip.

- Persistent chest pain with difficulty breathing (dyspnea)
- Cyanosis (blue lips or face)
Injuries & Trauma
- Suspected fracture
- Suspected concussion with any loss of consciousness
- Severe burns
Serious Illness Signs
- A fever of 100.4°F or more in a child under 2 months of age
- Extreme lethargy or difficulty arising
- Signs of moderate dehydration (lack of urination for twelve hours, dry lips or oral mucosa, confusion, changed mental status)
Other Emergency Situations
- Possibly swallowed a button battery
- Active suicidal ideation
- Allergic reaction with wheezing, shortness of breath, or mouth and lip swelling
Not sure if it's an Emergency?
During office hours, call us at 860-556-9119 for guidance. After hours, our on-call provider can help determine the appropriate level of care.
This list is not comprehensive. Always trust your parental instincts—if you believe your child needs immediate medical attention, don’t hesitate to seek emergency care.
